janicki-minaj asked: How do I stop hating men? Is there some kind of baptism that will make me clean again?
Well, on your blog you’ve got a post full of firemen selflessly rescuing dogs - you could try focus on stuff like that a little more than the stuff feminism has invented and propagated the past 50 years, like ‘rape culture’, ‘patriarchy’, ‘white male privilege’, etc.
Men are flesh and blood human beings trying to survive in the world just the same way you are, and they invented and maintain practically everything that makes your so life easy, comfortable and safe today. One specific man is also responsible for planting the seed that gave you life, and that’s the same story for everyone else you’ve ever known of and loved in your life, as well.
Of course this is true about women too, that they have ‘the gift of life’ - and it’s true, they do - but the other 50% of that process is almost never mentioned, though without the spark of desire a man felt for a woman, there could be no human life at all. If you are grateful for your life or for the lives of any of your lovers or friends, you must also be grateful for the men that helped make them. Personally, I always make a point of thanking my girlfriend’s mother for making her whenever I see her. You could try applying some of that same thinking when you look around at the people you know and love but instead imagine yourself thanking their fathers. Make your focus gratitude.
We are all (men and women) already evolutionarily programmed to favor and feel greater sympathy for the females of the species and put their safety and security before that of the males. Males in every society are the disposable sex, now and always. This is an immutable fact of life: You can’t change your biology but you can be aware of it, and factor it into your behaviour.
When you hear a hateful or derogatory statement made about men, try reversing the genders in your head and seeing what you’d think of it if it were said about a woman. Take note of the difference in your own levels of empathy and care when you see a man in need and try to hold yourself to a higher standard of justice and equality for all.
But, if none of the above works, do it for yourself, for your own happiness. Because if you are holding beliefs that tell you to hate literally one whole half of the human race, there is no way on earth you can ever be truly happy: the world will always look ruined and spoiled to you, and every second person you meet only a reminder of how far from your own unobtainable man-free utopia you are. And all because of a lie.
The higher truth is always that we are all one, and to attempt to cut off any section of humanity because nature has built them different to you is only to cut off a part of your complete self. To hate men (or women, or black people or white people, or gay people or straight people etc) is as bizarre and misguided in the greater scheme of things as hating trees, or birds, or ponies. People of all types are capable of horrific avarice and cruelty, but also of astonishing kindness and self-sacrifice. If you want to rid yourself of hatred, leave ideology behind and embrace humanity.
take a shot every time:
- someone suggests a time period that has already been debunked
im looking at you feudal japan
- a mysteriously blurry picture of the logo is ‘leaked’
- someone suggests ancient egypt
- someone bumps into a developer and is told the entire plot of AC5
- two shots if its…
